Royal Mail is showcasing some of Britain’s world famous fashion designers and their iconic designs on ten new first class stamps.
The stamps, which went on sale on May 15th, feature some of the most influential designers to have come out of the country since World War II, proving exactly why Britain is at the forefront of world fashion design.
The work of Hardy Amies, Norman Hartnell, Granny Takes a Trip, Ossie Clark, Paul Smith, Tommy Nutter, Jean Muir, Zhandra Rhodes, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen showcase some of the most exciting years of British fashion.
Each stamp includes prime examples of the ten designers’ work, shot by renowned fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø. These include Tommy Nutter’s suit for Beatle Ringo Starr and Vivienne Westwood’s 1993 Harlequin Dress that Naomi Campbell wore on the catwalk. Sølve worked with live models but did not use their facial features to allow the designs to speak for themselves. The original clothing was used, either obtained by the designers or sourced from specialist vintage fashion stores.
You can purchase the collection directly on the Royal Mail website.
